FROM THE DESK OF TEACHER-IN-CHARGE
Shirakole Mahavidyalaya was founded on the 9th July, 2007 at Shirakole with the purpose of imparting higher education to the aspiring students of the locality, especially girls, who had to face serious problems regarding admission to different colleges of Kolkata. The bulk of the population of Shirakole and adjoining areas comprises of backward minority class, most of them were first generation learners and who have access to primary and secondary education but were facing several problems to get the opportunity of higher education. This college is the only centre of higher education in this area.
At present the college offers honours course in Education, History, Bengali, Political Science, English, Sanskrit, Philosophy, and Geography. Apart from this, the college offers general course in Education, History, Bengali, Political Science, English, Sanskrit, Philosophy, Geography, Physical Education, Food & Nutrition, and Sociology. It is our pride that one of our students namely Paramita Mondal secured highest marks in B.A Education Honours Examination, 2016 among all colleges under University of Calcutta.
